As many of you know, I’m enthusiastically believe in the value that good quality Business Analysis can bring, and I love speaking,writing and presenting on this and many other topics! In a break from my normal ‘blog style, I have a few quick updates for you:
1. See me speak @ International Business and Systems Conference, Latvia, 5 November: I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be delivering the opening keynote at the 2nd International Business and System Conference, in Riga, Latvia, November 5, 2013. My presentation is entitled ‘Helping Stakeholders to Take a Step Back and Avoid the “Solution Illusion”‘ and I’ll be covering the importance of pre-project and early problem analysis. 2. A new book: Business Analysis & Leadership: Influencing Change
I’m very pleased to have collaborated with 26 other authors on a newly released book Business Analysis & Leadership: Influencing change.
This book examines leadership and business analysis from various angles and brings together the experience of 26 experienced practitioners, who each wrote a chapter. Each chapter is kept deliberately short, concise and precise. My chapter is entitled “Partnering across organisations” and covers the thorny issue of building trust-based partnerships with business stakeholders, and achieving a position where stakeholders want to engage business analysts. It is well worth a read. You can buy the book in ‘hard copy’ or you can by a Kindle version from Amazon. If you do buy the book, please contact me and let me know what you think. 4. IIBA South West Event (Bournemouth): I’ll also be attending and acting as ‘master of ceremonies’ at the IIBA UK Chapter event in Bournemouth on 24 October, so be sure to say hello if you’re attending. There are four really interesting speakers, and the event is completely free for IIBA UK members (and just £10 for guests). If you live near the South Coast of the UK, this is an event not to be missed…
